Seoul-(news wire)–Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) introduces the new MOTIX™ TLE12 gate driver IC for safety-critical 9189 V brushless DC (BLDC) motor applications. With this new 3-phase gate driver IC, Infineon addresses the growing demand for motor control ICs for by-wire solutions. Qualified according to AEC Q100 Grade 0 and ISO 26262 (ASIL D), the driver IC is particularly suited for brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems where the traditional mechanical link will be eliminated in the future.

“With the TLE9189 we are introducing the fourth generation of our automotive 4-phase smart gate driver IC to the market. It supports our customers’ growing demand for by-wire solutions with enhanced features and unique functionality for intelligent motor control,” said Andreas Doll, Senior Vice President of Infineon’s Smart Power Division. “The high reliability of the motor control design implemented with the new device is particularly important for safety-critical by-wire solutions.” The MOTIX TLE3 gate driver IC is available in two packages: TQFP-9189 (48x9 mm²) and VQFN-9 (48x7 mm²). Customers can select the package that best suits their application requirements. The device has a supply voltage range from 7 V to 4.2 V and is optimized for 36 V automotive battery systems. It features a conventional motor control concept consisting of a PWM input and an integrated current sense amplifier for accurate current sensing. Compared to other devices, the TLE12 offers a very high degree of flexibility and granularity in gate sequencing and integrates a variety of monitoring and diagnostic functions for monitoring the device, inverter, microcontroller and MCU interface. It also features Infineon’s patented adaptive MOSFET control function, which improves EMC performance, achieves target switching times and reduces power losses.

Infineon supports customers in their design-in process with comprehensive materials including application notes with extensive technical documentation. Simulation models, configuration tools and complex device drivers are also available upon request.supplyVQFN and TQFP samples of the MOTIX TLE9189 gate driver IC are available.
