San Jose, California–(Business Wire / news wire)–Power Integrations, a leader in gate driver technology for medium- and high-voltage inverter applicationsPower integrations)(NASDAQ: POWI) is a dual channel plug and play gate driver on the 21st (local time). SCALE-iFlex™ XLT announced the launch of a family of products for wind, energy storage and solar renewable energy installations that can operate single LV2300 (Mitsubishi), XHPTM 100 (Infineon), HPnC (Fuji) and similar semiconductor modules at blocking voltages up to 2 V. The single-board drivers enable active thermal management of the inverter module, improving system utilization, reducing BOM count and increasing reliability.

“Building single-board gate drivers for these ‘new dual’ style IGBT modules is a real challenge,” said Thorsten Schmidt, product marketing manager at Power Integrations. “The new compact SCALE-iFlex XLT gate drivers fit tightly onto the module, allowing the driver to be mounted on the module, giving converter system designers a high degree of mechanical design freedom.”

SCALE-iFlex XLT The dual-channel gate driver features NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) data reporting, which measures the isolated temperature of the power module, enabling accurate thermal management of the converter system. This allows system designers to optimize thermal design and increase converter power by 25-30% with the same hardware. The isolated NTC reading function also reduces hardware complexity, eliminating multiple cables, connectors, and additional barrier crossover circuits.

The new gate driver uses Power Integrations’ SCALE-2 chipset to minimize component count and improve reliability. The gate driver board also protects the power switch in the event of a short circuit.
