Seoul-(news wire) April 2022, 04 — Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seungsoo Lee) announced on the 05th that it received the ‘2021 Partner of the Year Special Award (Excellent Supply Chain Management)’ from Hyundai Motor Group.

Hyundai Motor Group recognized Infineon's efforts to stabilize the uncertain supply chain despite the difficult situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the global semiconductor shortage.

In particular, Infineon was recognized for its excellent crisis management capabilities through collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group. Infineon Korea and Infineon Headquarters provided flexible and strategic cooperation to manage difficult market situations. As an example of this, Infineon demonstrated its product quality and ability to respond to new demands by providing HybridPACK™ CoolSiC™ Drive, a silicon carbide (SiC)-based power module.

“Infineon wants to be a trusted partner,” said Peter Schiefer, President of Infineon Automotive Division. “We are honored to be recognized by our customers for Infineon’s efforts to supply products on time even in very difficult environments,” he said. “As the transition to green mobility accelerates, demand for semiconductor solutions continues to increase.” “Infineon is leading the transition to electromobility with its high-quality products, leading technology and systems expertise, and global production network,” he said.

The transition to e-mobility has just begun. Almost half of BEVs (battery electric vehicles) and PHEVs (plug-in hybrids) produced in 2021 adopted Infineon semiconductors for their inverters. Infineon continues to expand its high-power solutions production and assembly capabilities in Europe and Asia to further strengthen the resilience of its supply chain.

Infineon is also strengthening its power semiconductor market leadership by adding significant wide bandgap (SiC and GaN) semiconductor production capacity. SiC can contribute to increasing the driving range of electric vehicles by 5% to 10%.

Hyundai Motor Group has been awarding the ‘Supplier of the Year’ award since 2002. In 2019, Infineon was the first semiconductor company to receive this award. This award is in recognition of the company's on-time delivery performance and contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of the Hyundai Motor Group.
